Whoa, that semester went by strangely quick... I don't feel like I've actually learnt anything :p Where did all the time go!? How many updates did I miss O_0

Not that I intend to catch up on them... BFJA-UBD Gala night is on the 23rd of December, and you can book tickets thru me... We'll have a Kendo demonstration, a traditional Bruneian dance display, lucky draw, and other stuff on the night, it'll be fun, for only $4 per ticket! $7 if you get two at once! And 5 for $17! Hurry and book, there are only a very limited number of tickets... ^_^

Um... yes, me is on the organizing committee... >_< That'll be why I can't catch up on the updating... In fact, over the next week I'd be lucky to keep up 1/week... :p

Wow, so many assignments and deadlines coming crashing down around my ears. It seems every week has something to do! So hard to set aside time for drawing lately... >.<;;

Insert: Rant about Uni assignments, essays, presentations, what-have-you...
Insert also: Rave about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. Now that game wasn't half bad at all! =)

Still waiting for Dawn Of War: Winter Assault to hit the shelves here in Brunei. I hope I catch it when it does! Damn, I'm really itchin' to see that Baneblade!

Whoa, a month and a half since the last update. It's getting kinda sporadic, isn't it? ^_^'

I dunno, there was even a bit in there when I didn't touch my sketchbooks for a week... I may be feeling burnout, but I don't wanna stop just yet! I mean, IMHO, I think the comic does actually look better than it did when I first started it, maybe that's putting me off... I'll have to redress that! >.<' I like quality...

Anyway, right now I still feel like I'm settling into Year2 in UBD, I dunno quite why... Should be fully settled in by now... We already had our mid-semester break, dammit!

Haha... And then there's all the assignments coming in right now... I have a deadline to meet this weekend, and this coming Monday... @_@;; I'll try not to have such horrendous breaks again, but who knows?

In the news? Well, the 5502WXMi rocks. I shudder at the thought that there are better machines out there... I mean, the thing runs Doom3 like water! My desktop can't touch that performance, surely! Very, very nice.

Tho even at 2.3 kg, it can be a pain to lug around campus... Oh well, a good trade-off, I guess... Gaming on the go!
Um... near a wall plug, off course. The battery's no Energizer... Goes just 2.3 hrs... on power saving mode... :p

But still a sweeet machine nonetheless :)

Too bad this one took so long tho. Yes, I do realise I missed last week's update. Since this is Sunday night, I guess you can say I almost missed this one, too. :Not something I'd like to see become a habit, let me assure you.

Speech competition in 2 weeks! Getting nervous, and saying "ふとる～/ふとり～" is harder than I first imagined. Sucks. More practice is in order. Other main concern is the plain triviality of my whole speech :P

Hey everybody! I'm hopefully back! Let's see if I can go back to a regular update schedule. Once a week like last semester, just to be prudent... :p

Whoa, it sure has been a busy, busy break! Props to Azri for making all those lunch breaks a little more bearable. Papachillo! Lol

Let's see, during this time so much has happened. But not really noteworthy. But I feel like putting this up anyway, since it's the most recent event...

I got a bee sting last night. Haha, triviality! Kinda stupid, I should've killed the damned thing before going to bed. Anyway, just minutes after turning out the light, I feel this stabbing in my arm. Brushed it a few times, then remembered the little b*tch... Got bad up, squised it, and inspected the wound...

Didnt hurt much (yet), so I just washed it and rubbed some Hydrocortisone on it before going back to bed...

After a while though, it DID start to hurt, and I'd be damned, but I'd thought all of a sudden my room got all filled with mosquitoes... I think some of you might know where this is headed...

Anyway, I got all itchy, on my arms, neck, legs, and I could feel my ears getting hot. I could also feel bumps forming at the itches, hence the mosquito theory... Got back up, turned the light back on to look for any mosquitoes. By now the sting was getting quite hurty, too...

And saw them... rashes, hives, whatever you want to call them.

God bless Google, I found out I was suffering from a systemic reaction to beesting allergy. And all my life I thought I didn't have any... heh...

Anyway, by then it was too late to try the reaction dulling suggestions, eg: placing a cold object against the sting... By now the rashes were all over the place, I could feel my lips and eyelids starting to swell a little too. Luckily not a lot... The itching was starting todrive me crazy though!

Good thing I could still go to sleep (helped by a liberal slathering of Hydrocortisone). By morning, only the most stubborn spots remained. Some are STILL there as I type this. The pain from the sting is subsiding too.

Should be back to normal by tomorrow, thank God.

Oh, I'd also like to say that I'm kinda looking forward to Intermediate Japanese. Looks fun!

Argh... to think I was only 8 more strips from a big 50... :(

It's been getting a bit busy at work (what with the month end and all), and it's been pretty draining, more so than I'd anticipated...

And to make matters worse, I now have to go and tutor my cousin for the next two months (read: the rest of the holiday, at least)... Stupid little... grumble grumble mppphfle ruffle...

You see, it's *not* a question of choice for me. That little *bleep*'s gone and put *everyone* she's important to in a little squeeze. She's going through that "teenage phase," you see, where she's prone to blowing up and f*cking around. It's worse 'cause she's a delinquent little fruff 'n frumble... *And* she's a complete idiot who's sitting for major public exams soon. S0000... that's put me into a position to *have* to be her tutor, for better or worse. Something about "looking after your blood."

Screw the fact that there is none between us. There, I said it. A "major dark family" secret is now loosed unto the world. F*ck it, I don't care anymore. I can't wait for the day she just ups and leaves, so I can finally close this ugly chapter in my life. Yes, I'm a patient man, but she's that bad...

Anyway, what with the drain from work and now having to tutor this little piece of crap, I don't expect to be able to continue Animenagerie with any regularity, at least until I go back to university.

On the bright side, remember how I said before that this was a stepping stone to "greater things?" Well, I *think* I'm more prepared for it now, so while I'm taking a break from Animenagerie, I'll be writing and laying down the background work for "Luminescence."

It's going to be an epic undertaking, but I'm looking forward to it! Oh, don't expect to get to see any of the groundwork on it, unless you ask *reaaally* nicely.

I *do* hope to be able to return to Animenagerie at some point in the future, though. I had more ideas going for it, I think some you might be able to appreciate. I was *so* close to introducing another character, too!

Another simple one... Hmm, I'd have thought that these last two were kinda "one-off," just like the earlier (and I mean earlier) strips I did when I just started... But I think I see a theme emerging... Lol, I might continue it for the next one!

Ok... excuses time. Last week was because the exams were just over, and I wanted some time to slack off... This week, I got a "summer" job, so yeah. It'll take more time away from the comic than Uni ever did, since I won't be able to draw too much at all in the afternoons... Plus, it seems to be tiring me out a bit more than Uni, too... :p

Which is wierd, since it isn't exactly too demanding, I can do my day's alotted work in 3-4 hrs. It's more the waiting around till 4 part that's draining. It's boring! Being in an office doesn't help much, either...

*Sigh* This means, of course, that I won't be able to do too many extra comics over the holidays. I'll be lucky to maintain the 1-a-week schedule as it is... But I'll try!

On more exciting news, the exams are finally over! Woohoo! 3 months of holiday started yesterday. Japanese was easy for the most part, except for some chewy bits, like the katakana section which caught me completely off-guard, seeing as I didn't bother to look at the katakana table at all! Lol, what the heck...

Now, more seriously, does this mean I can go back to a 2 or 3 comic-per-week schedule? Maybe, maybe not. The anime on my hard disk becons to me, and it definitely won't work if I get a job... Still, it would be nice... It's about time a new character showed up, but even that might be delayed for a bit longer... ;)

Hehe, been experimenting lately. I kinda like the new frame arrangements. Do you? Everything looks so... much... fresher... Heheh. That and the return of the surprise character!
Kinda makes me think, tho... for a named character, Talor sure doesn't show up much... My bad!

On the exam front, it's 2 down, 3 to go! Logic and Thinking predictably made no sense, and Language Development wasnt so bad. LD was all about writing quickly tho, since in addition to comprehension questions with looong answers, we also had to do a mother of all Godzilla summaries. You guys takin "A" or "O" Levels don't know how easy you have it! And the vocabulary section was admitedly kinda insane, too. I dropped a few marks there, definitely...

On the anime front, Air is finally losing it's grasp on my head, and I finally finished watching the Slayers! Ok, so I finally got around to watching the last two seasons, the first one I already watched a long time ago :) Hehe, the 2nd season was definitely the best... The third had filler episodes that were overly corny and didn't help...

The Mahou Tsukai Tai OVA's were not bad though, and the story is quite funny!

Bottle Fairy was good too. The poor fairies, always getting misled by either their own wild imaginations or Tama-chan! Lol, it's cute how they play in doll houses too... hehe...

Haha, watching anime and playing games during the exam season...

Hehe, poor Serama. I don't think she was expecting her ancestor to be that nasty... Lol, looks like Koneko's got some issues to work out of his system, too... :p

Okay! Life's been good, it would be better if it weren't for the "Logic and Thinking" test next week, but I guess life has its hurdles. And a good life means less ranting! Yay!

Anyway, Anime of the week is DEFINITELY Air. Yes, even though technically I watched it last week... It's just that good. Dammit, no show's got to me like that since probably Kokoro Toshokan.

Lol, what a juxtaposition. That show as about practically nothing (and still so good!), but Air has soo much substance in it. Ep.6 was pretty sad, but they sure upped the ante by the end! "Goal!" Dammit, it could have been "Gao!"

Anyway, if you can, I definitely recommend Air. It scores on so many levels, the only fault I can find with it is that the plot is kinda wierd, but the staccato pacing kinda enhances that. The music is great and fitting, I can't listen to "Aozora" without remembering the scene it was played in, dammit! The animation is top-notch, and what CG they used is just fantastic. One of the best shows I've watched. This one goes into my favourites list, no question about that!

Kinda makes me wonder what "To Heart" is like... Hmm...

Oh well.

Building off the last one... Hmm, I see a trend. Lately the strips seem to have been coming in batches of 3-4 strips... Kinda convienient, I must say. There's at least one more strip for this arc. Looks like if we look back far enough, we all share common roots, eh?
Lol, that's just my take. Monkeys, worms, Adam, all the same, I don't really put too much thought into it. I'm just thankful and grateful to be alive, end of story. Hint: I like dinosaurs. What kid doesn't? Okay, not much a hint to anything, really. Just maybe to the strip that might finish off this story arc, and something for later this rant. For now:

Seriously. I want my 8 hrs back. I haven't hated a show this much for nothing since... well, since the last show I hate, which must have been a long time ago. I mean, if I didn't know that the story continued in the manga (which is itself only marginally better), this anime would score negatively on a chart of 1-10. Seriously part of the 90% crap. GAO!

Ah, now that my box has been cleansed and purified of that piece of sh*t, let's move on to more pleasant things, shall we? I for one can't remember when was the last time the debut of a character hit me so much as Misuzu's. I knew I was hooked to the show not even 2 minutes past her debut.

*run* *run* *trip* "Gao!"

Damn, how cute is that!? *Gush* The story is good too, even just the 1st 4 that I've watched. The first 4 eps of TT can't hold a candle to this, or practically anything else I've gushed over so far. Yes, that includes Oruchuban Ebichu, and that's saying something. Hell, Azumanga Daioh DIDN'T HAVE a story, and it was way better that TT.

Right, in real life matters, I've suddenly come to the realization that I feel poor. Maybe because one after the other, they went to check their allowance, and none of them didn't have anything to spend because the allowance didn't come out yet. Now I can understand and relate to those allowance complaints in the paper. Daymn. Thank God I don't know how to spend money. Heheh. I either spend it on crap I don't need (sketch books anyone? lol) (yet), or I don't spend it. Like I currently have the urge to get an iPod Mini. Unlike my friends, I do have the resources for it... Heheh. Thing is, I already have an mp3 player that I've developed an attachment to. (Damn you OS-Tans! Lol, if I hadn't ran into it I wouldn't have realised the deep emotional attachment that I do in fact have for my stuff)

Then there's the considerations for either a box overhaul (no hassles there! ;), a laptop, or a PS2... Maybe even a new mobile phone... Ah, decisions, decisions...

Damn, this one was written a looong time ago, I can tell you that! Lol, the joke dates all the way back to #2, in fact... :p It's a take on the evolution vs creationism thing going, on, if the first 2 frames don't give you enough of a clue...
Oh, inset in the 4th frame is a rough of an alternative head for the puppy's ancestor. I thought it should make things clearer, but stuck with the original design, because I was seriously runnin out of space on the page, and the 1st sketch isn't bad either, no?

Yup, anime of the week really isn't Tenjou Tenge, but I can't bring myself to watch Gunbuster again either. So... anime of the week this time round goes to something called "Oruchuban Ebichu," one of the most politcally incorrect shows I've seen in a while. Good ride, but 'nuff said.

Gah, exams in 2 weeks. Oh well.

Damn, I never thought I ever have so many things to say. Okay, let's get the closest thing related to Animenagerie out of the way first... Heheh, I thought Koneko is cute in his get-up. And the pony must be really pissed with the poor cat by now too... It has been a month! :p

Also, this is the last strip in the 3rd book that Animenagerie has finished. The first had #1-15, the next 2 were used to finish off one of my older books (which I don't feel too bad about now, read more to find out why, hehehe...), and #18-36 have now used up all of the next book! If it wasn't for the Christmas Card, this book'd have been 100% comics, too... Oh well, it's a nice card, isn't it?

Sooo... why am I not depressed? Weeeell, it's because I GOT REPLACMENTS!!!W00t! W00t! Spent about a whole week looking for a worthy successor, and then went to a bookshop more famous for Ugama textbooks than sketchpads, a place called Mubarak, and bingo! Jackpot, baby!
Hard to believe I went there just on a hunch, too. Sure, the pads were at the back, but they are beautiful pads! A'Zone pads, too. My favourite! They had the A4 40 page black ones just like they had in Hua Ho once upon a time! The very same ones as the one that #16 and 17 finished off! I got 2 of those, just snatched them off the shelves. Then I got A5 and A6 ones too, just for the heck of it. I got even better! They had A'Zone A4 20 page ones too, and these have hard plastic covers. I could have died and gone to heaven...
Okay, okay, so I have a sketchpad fetish. They're my thing. And you know you've got one if you spend more than $50 on them, and in sizes you don't ever use, either... If I was any worse, I'd have easily gotten more than $75 worth of them...
Oh well, at the very least, even if Mubarak does run out of the pads, I'm happy and set for... like... um... a year!? Meh...

In other news,

One month before the semester exams... Haven't started studying, and I have an assignment worth 15% of my Phonetics grade due in on Monday... Bleah... I feel weak...

The closing theme scene of Tenjou Tenge scares me. I think I just don't agree with the style... I'll leave my issues with the story telling (and I mean in the manga, which does seem a little better) for later.

Ultra Maniac is better, but not the best. There, it was the opening theme that scared me (ie, I think it sucks. The animation didn't help. At least in TT I was only scared of the animation, the song was "okay"). The ending theme is hauntingly good though... Kinda like the Uta-kata music. Although the tunes in Haibane Renmei still echo in my head though... Now that's scary music...

Anyway, the story in even Uta-kata (yep, not Ultra Maniac, because Uta-kata was just convoluted and brain-hurting) was far better than what Tenjou Tenge set up. Which is too bad. I swear at least a couple of the seiyuus in Tenjou Tenge sound familiar...
Oh, did I mention anime of the week is Ultra Maniac, for no other reason than me having no time to watch anything else? Tenjou Tenge might be watched in one week too, but I might vote something else... TT's just not good enough, I'm not about to set my standards that low... So yeah, that's how I feel about it. xp

Or if the Gunbuster Renewal comes in in time...

Riiight. Next up, Happy April Fool's Day. No body got me this year (Haha!), but I guess staying at home alone all day helped... :p Hoped you all played it safe out there!

I thought it might be impossible, but I may actually be feeling anime burnout O.0 I'd watched Uta Kata and Scrapped Princess, both good shows in their own right, over less than a week, and well, for some reason or another I need a break! Lol, looking in my harddrive, I see some 36 gb of anime yet to watch... That's 9 series. Right now, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. (-.-')

Exams in a month! Lots of assignments to hand in! Cramming to commence! Gyaaargh!

And that's the first time I've not used a frame. I'd experimented earlier on, but out it of till now, I don't know quite why. I was just putting #34 together, and the last frame looked good without an outline, I guess. What do you think?
Hehe, looks like the poor pony hasn't managed to get rid of Koneko yet, either. I have a feeling this is leading somewhere... ;)

I'd also like to make a point that I'd love to continue last week's rant on whoring, BUT, I've had too much of a good day to get worked up over some "agent"'s attempt to hump me. Right. Just so you know.

Oddball game of the week is "Nanaca Crash." Dom from Megatokyo has talked about this, but I've only just started playing it. Who'd have thought keeping a poor soul bouncing along a road by repeatedly hammering him (with a bicycle, or punch, kick, even katana o.O) could by so much fun!? Damn, but it just HAD addictive, too. Should've heeded Dom's warning. Now heed mine, lol. Especially if, like me, you love those oddball games like Insaniquarium, or Hexic, or Feeding Frenzy or... >.<

Oddball manga of the week is "OS-tan", or at least that's what I think it's called. From what I gather, it was created by a bunch of guys on a place called the Futaba Channel. Therefore, it's done by totally different people, using totally different styles, AND, it's considered to be TOTALLY doujinshi, or fan work. (Now normally I detest copying and fanwork, but I can't argure if it's done in a person's own style!) As a plus, they all seem to draw the characters according to some guidelines, since they look consistent across artists. How cool is that.

So, what's it all about? Well, it's the Windows range of Operationg systems ("OS"-es. The "tan" is supposedly how a child says "chan," the suffix that is added to a child's name in Japanese.) personified as a family of sisters, based on their performance, looks, age, and so on. Although they seem to have different levels of maturity despite their age. Eg: ME-chan (Windows Millenium) is still a kid while XP-san (duh) is all grown up and hot, even though Me is older... I think it's down to overall performance. The guys on Futaba don't seem to like Me (lol), but she's really cute anyway. She seems to be as popular as XP-san and 2k-san, anyway. I know I like her! So what, cute things get to me. Is that so wrong?

Ok, I just spotted a great big mistake in #29! I'll see about editing it, and fixing the picture... If anyone has noticed, I actually managed to mix up the 3rd and 4th frames... Hehe, I'll maybe make the change by next update, see if it makes anymore sense!

Right, ranting time. How many of you out there are part of a "Direct-Selling" business? Well, here's my brutally honest opinion about it, so it's going to be a little offensive. Mind you, it's tempered with the experience I've been haveing over the past fw weeks, where my friends seem to have all sold their souls to this form of marketing machine. Doesn't matter what they sell, or who they sell it from (YES, "from"), they've all effected me. So here's my two cents back. It could be an offensive two cents, too. BUT, if you can stick through it, maybe you might learn a thing or two about how to pitch your crap at me...

Ok, go time. Firstly, why don't I like "direct-selling?" Well, for all they say about this letting you meet people, why do I feel like I'm just whoring something? Honestly. It feels like these people, my erstwhile friends, are WHORING stuff. Flogging stuff just seemed sooo much better. And the arguments why I should "sign up" through them are just as pathetic.

I mean, please. I think a lot more than I seem to. And this means I like the way I think and experience things. And so this direct selling method, or at least the approaches my buddies have used so far, don't work on me. I'm serendipitiedly happy with my life right now. I know that I have to think about the future, and I do. Don't you think I do? And here these people come up to me as if I've just woken up from a cave and don't know anything. Dudes, rethink your strategy.

And the way it's presented to me is always the same. "If you join up think of all the money you'll make!" Again, please. If anyone knows me, they'd know that I'm not by nature greedy like that. Hell, I'm a bloody hobbit, if I spend I go ALL OUT. BUT I do of course, know when to save too. So what the f*ck are you waving "Potential Cash" in front of my face for? You might as well be waving a free ticket to heaven:

(ASIDE: Heheh, I like that, the way they say, "You can make up to $!" What I think? "Bullshit!" Why? Exactly. They are relying on the "fact" that I'd get n people to sell stuff for me, all of which will get n people to whore more stuff, again all of which will in turn get n people to... well, you get the picture. And if they don't? Well, simple! "That's why you need to introduce X to as many people as you can!" To which I say, "Sh*t, isn't that how you'd get your $ anyway?" Can't I just save up (which I can) and get my money myself?)
(ASIDE PART TWO: Oh, what's nasty is also how they tend to get all stuck up and lofty when I turn them down as politely as possible: "Okay, let's see you in 3 years when I'm driving my Rolls Royce (sarcasm) and flying around in my private jet. Would you be able to afford thoseby the time I get them?" Which is NOT how I like being talked to. Face it no one likes being treated like that. More on this follows later.)

I LIKE DOING THINGS THE HARD WAY. Yup, you heard it right. Which is why, in the race to steal my soul, Amway has already lost out. Plus, also the fact that I LIKE DOING THINGS MY WAY, or failing that, GIVE ME A GOOD "CHAIN OF COMMAND THAT STILL GIVES ME MY PRIDE. For me, selling stuff to my friends who will then sell stuff to their friends (ad infinitum) to earn money is just a little too easy... Then profitting off from their work? Sorry, that sounds too fishy to me. AND, it doesn't sound too "honourable" to me either. It makes use of others to get YOU the end result. AND don't forget that while OTHER PEOPLE are being whores for YOU, YOU are in turn being whored by whoever recruited you. NOT something I relish thinking about. I value my pride. If that's a fault, then the world is going down the shitpipe. I'll EARN my ticket WITH MY OWN TWO HANDS, thank you very much! I will not, however profitable, take such an advantage of the work of others.

Plus the fact that the direct selling system relies on a large, dynamic network of people to actually be profitable. Not only that, but if you think about it, any "end-users" are actually the ultimate dip-shits, according to the systems presented to me so far. They say it's okay (to be the dip-shit, just let the person you're getting the stuff from take advantage of you and rape you of your hard-earned cash. Remember: he's getting a discount that you're not), but with the knowledge already presented to me, how can that be okay? Now that I know enough about how it works, how can I be satisfied with just being an end-user? As far as I'm concerned, a great deal of spending (by all parties concerned) is involved in the process as well.
And, of course, since this is classified as "Passive income," you actually need to put your "Active Income" into it, don't you? IF you don't, you starve the people "above" you of income. IF your "downline(s) don't, they starve YOU of your cash. SO, it goes that the company running the whole thing is the only one reeling it in. everyone else HAS to spend part of their "active incomes!" Now, from the "philosophies" that these companies dole out, I don't see how that's fair. Even if I was profiting from it. I can't take advantage of people in that way.
Call it a moral thing.

One of the final hurdles is the way you have to register and sign up and be whored to some guy, even if he's your "friend!" What happened to the good ol' days of conscience!? Oh, sure, the guy thinks he's doing you a favour by presenting you this "wonderful" business opportunity. But I'm sure if you're reading this bit, you'll know by now how I feel about all this. Remember, if you want to recruit me, I have to WANT to WORK for you. NOT WHORE "STUFF." Unfortunately, friendship could be a hurdle here, especially if I've known you for a time. Also, you'll have to convince me to abandon morals that I hold to be good and true, because, after all, whore me and you whore my clique: my family, my personal friends (not that I have many), etc. Not something I relish thinking about at all... It also hurts more when Aside Part Two applies to the people I consider my friends...

THEREFORE, TO ALL DIRECT SELLERS: I hope you've been taking notes. If you want to get me, it'd probably be like getting the last boss in the hardest game you've ever played. I like it this way. Mind you, though, the endgame might not be what you expected. What if I told you that you guys are my only friends? Now you see why I don't want to whore you? Okay, anyway, off you go to tailor your strategies for approaching me for "business," and see if your changes make any good.
You guys are supposed to be able to read people, right? Isn't that what you're trained for? I don't think you've read me right even after 2 years...

This should've been up a little earlier, but considering it's kinda late anyway, it wouldn't have mattered being set back a couple of hours. STILL, I'd like my life back, thank you very much! Hmm, there's a preeetty long rant coming up, and since the installation of the new hit counter tells me that people don't come here anyway, I'll take some liberties and say everything I wanna say, no matter how offensive it might be. Where to start?

Okay, let's let it build up, and see where the momentum takes me. There's obviously another change in the comic's schedule, it'll still be once a week, but one the weekends... Oh well, since it's come to this, why not make it official? No use moping about it. Right, now for some random juice:

You know there's a problem when there are stray cats outside your hospital's emergency operating theatres O.o Thaaat's RIGHT. On another note, I've just been thinking lately, "How cool would it be for an albino to have conjunctivitis?" Okay, so being sick isn't the best of things to wish upon somebody, but you know all those vampire/zombie/superhero stories where they get spiffy red eyes? Now how about that, eh? Now to figure out how to get that glowy effect...

Moving on. To a certain relative, get well soon, and stop bleeding out your *sshole. And you better appreciate that. I don't know your name, so I can't put in a proper dedication here. Just stop wasting my f*ckin time, okay? Or just kick the bucket and be done with it!

Next up: My brother gets an iPod. If he wants to, that is. Go for it, dude! You'll know what I'm talkin' about sooner or later. ;) No, this bit I actually feel happy for.

Finally, the last bit. That bunny in today's strip is a rough of a new pet for the girl! What do you think? It won't be appearing for a while, though, since I've actually written about half a dozen strips that don't actually feature the bunny. It's been a while since I introduced a new character!

In other Animenagerie news: I like the pony, and I honestly think it's kinda cute, but damn, if it's not easy to draw... it's an exception because the puppy and cat are "chibified" or "super deformed," meaning they are simplified and have less detailed, like Serama, and so are found easier to draw. The other characters, the girl and the ostrich, are harder because they are drawn, well, "normal"... Oh well. At least it's fun. I like how the pony came out in panel #5 of today's strip, actually...

Ah, all ranted out.

Hehe, what's this about holiday homework? Well, the mid-semester break is finally upon us! Yay! However, I unfortunately feel pretty blasted already, so I think I'll be taking it preeetty easy this holiday, so no, I don't think I'll be making 2 comics this week... Hmm, ok, we'll see about that. No promises!

And now, how was the Open Day, you ask? It was better than expected, I feel exactly like a ばか, but it was better than expected... This was originally scheduled for Thursday last week. So whay is it only coming up now? Okay, a big apology to all you folks out there. Looks like I can't keep a regular 2-per-week schedule. There's too much work getting in the way! Really sorry for this, but it looks like Animenagerie has to regress to a 1-per-week schedule, at least for the time being. I'll try to draw as much as possible still, so if I get to build up a few spares I might just release them early, as treats :) Damn, it's annoying that I can't keep up the 2-per-week... Gotta work harder!

In other news, I somehow got myself roped into helping out at the UBD Open Day, at least for tomorrow... I'm not even a registered volunteer! Anyway, if you're going to the Chancellor's Hall, look for me at the Japanese Department's booth. I'll be there from about 9 to about 3. Do drop by!
Now to decide if I'll show up on Friday...

Also, I finally got a new printer. My system is now complete! Practically all the parts I could wish for I now have. Now, if only they could be better parts, but that's a different matter...

And anime of the week is Kokoro Toshokan. You know a show is good when you identify with the characters so much when you're happy when they're happy and cry when they cry... By the end of the 1st episode... It's not corny angsty cheesy vanilli emotion, either. This show gets to you! The story might not go too far, but the telling is great anyway you look at it. Don't forget the Communication Clips either! Those look a little different, but are still good!

Riiight. Gotta go brush up my Jap so I don't look like a ばか tomorrow.

EDIT [17/3/2005]: Damn, but I just noticed that this comic has the 3rd and 4th frames mixed up! I've fixed it, but it's on a new page because I don't know how to stick the corrected one here. Hehe, I hope everyone can make out the details in the last 2 frames. The next few strips kinda ties into this. Oh, is it me, or is she shopping quite a bit nowadays? Strange that there aren't any other actual people showing up ;)

Gah, I got 2 days to finish the next strip, less than 2 anyway. I'm actually not too frazzled by this, at the very least I got ideas for the next few strips down! That's the hard part, the next hard part is to actually plan the 6 frames, and then drawing is just chewy! I hope to finish #29 by tomorrow, 'cause I won't be able to do anything on Wednesday, and Thursday's probably gonna be more than a little busy too. Drats, I'm starting to regret not doing more drawing back in December... Hehe, you only get ideas for the things you love doing if you keep at it! That's what I'm finding, anyway. If I don't draw or think about Animenagerie, I just don't get any new ideas for it.

Ok, this is the one I was talking about last week. The pony sleeping is a hard draw! Other than that, I guess the strip came out okay. The main thing I'm now kicking myself over for #27 is that half-way through cleaning it up, I had an idea for an alternative 2nd frame, but that would have meant having to redrar everything else as well... Oh, well, I like how it's turned out, perhaps if I ever get some "alternative sketches" page I'll draw it and post it there... Hmm, DeviantArt seems more and more appealing everyday!

In other news, I had 2(!) tests today. The first was a brainfarting "Logic and Thinking" test, and the other was a Phonology test that made a gajillion times more sense. Tell me, who in the hell says something like, "Not all reptiles are not non-warm blooded animals."!? And we have to make sense of that statement? What's more, that thing had backup, it had friends in the test... Altogether, there were something like 20 of these unintelligible sentences... Good lord, funny sound symbols made soo much more sense. Strangely, I'm actually looking foraward to the results of this test. I should do better than last year! ;)

Woo, I'm pooped. And I still got #28 to finish cleaning, along with a new card!

Wow, so many things to talk about today! Where to start?

Ok, trivial, brinless, "just why did he do that/is he talking about this?" stuff first... I cleaned the dustbunnies out of my keyboard last Saturday. More than 4 years worth... Did you know how much crap can get between the keys of your keyboard? Surprisingly much! Lol. The board is not the cleanest yet, but it's a lot less dusty under the keys now... Dustbunny vacancies!

Whew, now that that's out of the way, let's talk about today's comic, shall we? Personally, I liked this one, I think it ties in with #25 rather nicely, don't you? Hehe, the puppy has a taste for cute things. What a coincidence!

Aaand, I'd like to thank Hj Ruzaini for a great day out yesterday. If you ever want to see a bunch of guys drunk without alchohol, you can't beat a gathering of the SOAS PraU 2003 intake! The barbeque was better than last year's, too! Deeefinitely! Lol. Got sunburned very unevenly, but that's a small price to pay for such a great time. In fact, I'm starting to feel that the BBQ is more to blame than the sun... Oh well, see everyone next time!

This is the last one I finished last year... I dunno why, but after this one, I was all fired up to do more comics, but just couldn't keep the pace! Oh well, not to worry, ever since university restarted, I've kinda gotten back into the drawing-2-strips-a-week groove again! I know, it's a little weird... Slack my *ss off over the holidays, and then start working again when school starts. Oh well, maybe that's what holidays are for anyway, lol.

Aaalso, have I mentioned how sweet that RAM upgrade is? I just went from 128mb 266mhz RAM to 512mb 333mhz RAM. Sweeet... BitTornado hardly ever slows my PC anymore, I can even go off and play some Daw Of War with 6 torrents running in the background! Thanks Sei Poh!

Unfortunately, I also seem to have trouble viewing my own site right now. This is making it harder to tweak and check...

Yay, I finally got around to drawing #26! Can someone tell me just why I feel so relieved? Haha, but I haven't cleaned it yet, so it isn't exactly finished... It does kinda feel good to be back on the drawing board, though... so to speak. :) I'm doing #27 now, too! I'll say now that sleeping horses are not easy to draw! I still have a long way to go, but it won't be long before you'll see the results of my labour! You'll see it next week, in fact, when #27 is due to run! I hope it won't disappoint!

BTW, I'm sure you've noticed that I'm using an inordinate amount if exclaimation marks today... I have no idea why! Maybe it's the combination of lack of sleep, coffee this morning, and a seemingly good anime. See, I've just finished watching "Uchuu No Stellvia" (cream of the crop show, I MUST say. Absolutely LOVE it, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good time.), and now I'm watching something called "Final Approach." It's very short by any standards (10-15 minute episodes, and then only 13 episodes), but it looks very sweet. So I'm a sucker for cute things. You haven't realised from reading the comic? It sure feels good to feel good, whatever that means!

I was chuffed with this one! For 2 main reasons:
1) I got a new character (it's a Shetland pony!)
2) This was supposed to be #20!
Yeah, what did you think it was? A pegasus? Oh please... ;) Did you think I'd get mythological? Lol, when pigs fly (wait, now there's a thought...)!
Then there's the fact that this is #23, not #20. What happened was that I got busy with other stuff, so this got delayed, and in the meantime, I got a couple more ideas for the snow arch which I juuust had to put in first!
There's also a story behind how I got the idea for this one, but I won't tell it here. Ches should know about it though, Fifie too!

Alright, I haven't drawn since early December, and I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel now... University is also staring to kick into full swing, so it's time to get busy!

I went to Kota Kinabalu for the first time in over 13 years over the weekend. It was kinda unexpected, really, since I was meant to spend the weekend in Lawas, my hometown, not KK... What can I say about KK? Well, for starters, have they heard of DVD!? Damn, but the shelves are lined with casettes! CASETTE TAPES!? Okay, for all you tape fans out there, I'm going to back off now, since other than that (and the 2-3 hr drive to get there), KK rocks. It's HUGE compared to anything I"VE seen, and that's saying something about where I've been, haha.

What else? I've caught a b*cthing cold from an aunt.Ironic that I only caught it back here in Brunei. Frickin' crap, but I feel my temperature rising like my new harddisk, too. Can't be good.

Aaand... well okay, there's nothing much else to say... I need to go lie down... I'll update that sidebar when I get better.

Wouldn't you hate it if you hadn't enough snow for your snowman? Haha, just a thought when I was putting this together.

Well, I've put the new harddisk in, and apart from the increased temperature of my PC's casing, it's great to have 120gb more to stuff with... er... stuff. I've already got Windows 98(Ah, the classic goodness) and Windows XP installed into partitions on the new harddisk, ready to be booted for the next time my old one goes to hell. All smooth now, apart from a few driver errors here and there for me to sort out. Props to Aslam for helping me out!

Now to find stuff to put into the extra space... BitTorrent is a beautiful thing. It's "slow", but when you're getting 4gb+ of something for free, that's nothing to complain about... even if it's going to take 2 or 3 days. It's the whole God damned season of Stellvia, for cryin out loud! Haha

Happy New Year, everybody! Exam results for the first semester have just come out, I guess I did okay. Still got a bit of work to do, though... Okay, now that's out of the way, there's a little something to come clean about...

I haven't actually drawn in almost 3 weeks... Yup! After all that big talking after the exams, I haven't been able to deliver! Luckily I had that resevoir of spares, so I haven't actually missed updates, but as you can see, it's getting less and less every week! I drew a lot in the first week or so, finishing 3 whole strips, but after that, the steam ran out and... so you get the picture. I could blame my brother and his presence being a disturbance, but I'd rather blame gaming, Sacred and Stronghold being major culprits. Looks like I might be in the (heavy) casual gaming fold for a while longer! Anyway, I'll obviously need to get my ass back in gear if I'm going to make it to February... No worries there, however. I've already got ideas for the next 5(!) strips, it's only a matter of getting down to drawing them, so no, it's not a prolonged case of writer's block... Drawer's block? Maybe, but I wouldn't put it to that. I'm still only starting with Animenagerie, though, so it's not going to die away anytime soon!

This one has a few doodles on the page that I just couldn't bring myself to clean off. If I knew how, I'd probably make those into buttons! Yes, I included the worm. It's kinda weird now to think about it. I find that the easier and quicker I find a comic to do, the cleaner the page ends up. Strangely, I can find this slightly off-putting, and I've found myself purposely sticking doodles on a page that I find too clean. On the other hand, if a strip contains many 'harder' sketches, then the pages will end up covered in doodles and notes and whatnot by the time it's done. Meh. Just an observation on my drawing. It's also kinda strange when the doodles that you put on the margins of your text-books end up just as good or even better than the stuff you use for your comic. Hmm...

Hmm, how many of you out there think I could have done a better framing job? Anyway, I hope I learned from this one. It's already a few weeks old, but I didn't want to go back to it to reframe the content, so that my screw-ups will show and tell... So long as I don't stick the last frame out like this again, but I had problems framing this one and a few others, put it down to lack of experience... I've learned a trick or two to avoid this now! Important thing is though, I love the things I do, screw ups or no. If I do screw up, I hopt to learn from the mistake and come back better! That makes a mistake worthwhile.

Must... Resist... Narration...

Heh, it's not easy for me to not want to talk about the latest strip. So allow me to ramble on about a few other things that might have inspired Animenagerie (other than the neighbor's chicken). It's where I live. There are a quite a few strays around, and I used to leave scraps out for them. One cat came all the time, and even had successive litters under the staircase.

I admit to being fond of small animals, too. I've kept (note the past tense, obviously I'm not that good a pet owner... Oh, spare me, RSPCA!) hamsters, fish, budgerigars, and a kitten from aforementioned cat. The kitten is still alive, though, it's just been passed on to a relative. The fish too. But to different relatives ;)

I guess the experience and nostalgia put this to me. A set of ideas, and rules, and away we go! Well, okay, so Animenagerie is also a stepping stone to another project of mine, which still requires extensive writing and plotting... Hey, I need the practice before tackling that project! Lol

On a side note, the site has a new interface! A new caption under the title is more to the point, and I've got the archives listed out properly. Thanks for the code, Ches! Although it was already out there on the help pages. Chester helped point me to it. The other changes are just rudimentary and cosmetic, though... Gotta love that boxy thing.

Okay, I'll give in. The puppy's eyes are like that. It's a design rule I've set for it. Same for why the cat's mouth is always drawn back into that huge grin, because Koneko was based on the cats in Alice in Wonderland, Azumanga-Daioh, and Pita-ten. Okay, so Koneko's mouth is almost always like that... At least it isn't closed... The other animals have full control of their faces, though beaks are hard to wiggle, and to be honest, Talor doesn't have much of a face. But he expresses fine, don't you think?

Whoa, what a ramble this has turned out to be! I think I'll shut up now...

Yes, maybe I should have saved this for Easter. That's a pretty big egg!

A few slight changes in the interface now, since I've got a little more settled into this whole web-'drawing' thingy! A little more ambiguity will have to be in order, so all of you guys out there will just have to think about what's going on in the strips now. I'll still name the animals as they come on, but overall they are going to be just playing around from here on out... I'll still tell you about certain characteristics of the animals, but hopefully you'll see them as they play out. Less explaining on my part then, and more observation. Just like you have to watch your pets to learn how they feel and what they are like.

It's a new angle for me, but hopefully one that's worth trying out.

See? Talor lives up to his name... In both languages. Just don't tell the birds, heheh. I personally like Koneko creeping up on Talor and Serama the way he does, though! Lol. Don't ask me why Talor tolerates Serama 'nesting' him, though. Maybe he's just shy. And predator-phobic, as he should be!

Anyway, my holidays start NOW! Wahay! Jap wasn't so bad at all, and it was the last paper in my exams. Now I can devote more time than ever to my little project here. I plan to have made 10 more strips come the end of the month, with a little surprise on the side, which is slightly more than the 7-8 strips per month that I usually target. Can I do 3 per week? If I can keep it up when the next semester starts, then maybe there is a future for this comic! Sweeeet.

Ok then, that's it for now... I haven't made a post this long for a while!

Two... more... days..! My exams end on Thursday! Then I can finally get back to devoting time to drawing, something I've been putting off these last one and a half weeks. I just hope I haven't "lost my hand" yet. It's not the easiest thing to reoil your skills if you get rusty. But I'll try.

In today's strip, we get a new character! He's supposed to be a three banded armadillo (the type that rolls up). And he's a big one! Talor is also the first animal to be introduced in the first frame of a comic. Oh, did I just say Talor? Yup, that's his name. A little bit of English and Malay. "Talon" for his huge claws (check them out in future strips!) and "Telur (egg)" in Malay, because the birds don't know about him. Heheh.

See? I told you I couldn't miss this update window. It's so nice and roomy. Heh. I personally like this strip. Small bird, small worm; big bird, big worm. Maybe it's one of those giant mutant ones you find around nuclear power plants. Anyway, its a recurring character, not all the time, but I've had fun drawing some strips with the giant worm in it. Sort of like a special character. Watch out for it!

Hehe, Koneko has it in a bad way. Poor Koneko. But there isn't much he can do with that ostrich standing over Serama. Whose bright idea was it, anyway?

Anyway, I seem to have missed the Monday update window by just a quarter of an hour, damnit. Oh well, new site rules, the updates are latest Tuesday afternoon, and Saturday afternoon. Although I don't think I'd miss the midweek update window too often, since its so large.

Bleah, I just had my MIB exam. I hope I get that Credit, all of us who took the exam need to meet the C grade minimum, or we don't graduate. And this is a module that is compulsory, too. 0.O But my lecturer seems nice and lenient, and if Chester's info is good, then they'll just slap on the C's anyway... Fingers crossed on that.

A little abrupt, but that's why I missed the update in the first place. I'm a little busy. Till next time, then!

Yay! New character! Hehe, I think ostriches can be so cute. The sound is as accurate as I can get it, by the way. I actually googled for it! Never knew before the strip what sound an ostrich made, hehe.

Expect to see much of this character later on. I've drawn it quite a bit. This strip is just the beginning of the portrayal of the ostrich as, as one of my friends has put it, "The Chicken's Guardian." I just think they hang out together a lot.

By the way, I'm thinking of actually giving the animls names now. It seems so strange to keep calling them (imaginary though they are) "the kitten" or "the chicken" etc (by strip #20 there are 5 animals). The girl, however, will remain unnamed.

Here's what I think I'll call them, and why:-
Chicken - Serama, because it is one. A Serama is a breed of awfully cute, tame and miniature chicken popular in South East Asia.
Kitten - Koneko. Again, because it is one. "Koneko" is Japanese for "kitten," as far as I can understand from Azumanga-Daioh, heheh.
I dunno what to call the other animals yet, though. Oz is appealing for the ostrich, but then again, I don't feel that I like it that much. Maybe if I can find out what they call fighting cocks...

As for the other to-be-released characters, they don't have names yet either. But if I can come up with them, then I'll be sure to tell you.

And now, the one other thing I want to gripe about. RIP Winamp. You guys rocked. Winamp RULES, and ALWAYS WILL. 'nuff said.

Okay, first off. Selamat Hari Raya to all of you out there, I know it's a little late, but I've been busy, and haven't been able to blog properly till today. Which leads me to the next issue to tackle on the list... Sorry for being late. I should really have blogged last night. Heheh.

Today's srip is all about stealing thunder. Isn't it annoying? Happens to me all the time. Sometimes, I let it go, sometimes, You just have to get it back! Grooar!

Yep, exams next week. This means that if I finish #22, I probably won't do anymore this week, and then I'll pick it back up sometime towards the end of the month. I hope to be free in December... Hopefully I'll manage to do 10 (I'm not kidding), plus the usual Christmas Card, hehe. I don't want to have to recycle the cards.

Hmm... I thought I had more to say this time round, but it seems like I've run out. Oh well. See ya next time then.

Hehe did I say that I was gonna give you the basic guidlines that I adhere to in the creation of my comic on Monday? Well, a quick look back to last week's entry would say yes, yes I did. Ok, so I owe you an apology, I was really stressed at the weekend. Alright, now that's out of the way, here they are.

First, you might have noticed that apart from the sounds of the animals, there IS NO SPEECH. In four strips, the girl hasn't said ANYTHING, hell, in 21 strips (yes, I FINALLY DID IT! Over 3 weeks, too) she hasn't said anything. I've never seen this done before, accept just recently in Kevin & Kell (I'd link, but I'm new and don't know how...), but that was over a Christmas Week. 7 days, AND, Bill had to leave hints beforehand. Great story-telling, though. Now, I'm NOT trying to show Bill up, only seeing how long I can keep you entertained through non-verbal communication. This should be interesting.
Secondly, you might have noticed the format I've taken, or the relative lack of it. Six frames. If it fits into an A4 page, all the better.
Thirdly, all the stuff I'd wanna keep out. Suffice to say, I want to keep a PG rating. So no excessive cartoon violence (we all have the Happy Tree Friends for that), no beastiality, and none of that other rotten stuff coming from the back of your mind! Well, okay, maybe some of it, but remember. PG RATING.

Yay! So there's the 3 basic rules that I craft Animenagerie by. Now I guess I should talk a little about the strip. But we'll see about that. Maybe Monday? Heheh. Hopefully I wont forget.

Hehe missed that deadline AGAIN... Yup, I'm stiiill working on #21... Hehe, I only managed to finish the fourth frame just now in the library. Oh well, better that its slow but finished than never finished at all, eh?

Anyway, the Dictionary assignment is due on THURSDAY. Well, actually, it was due today... THIS MORNING... Why the hell am I so damn surprised? Heheh, I've left it for long enough. I just hope I'll be able to remember all those words in the list. They are new words after all, heheh.

On other notes, the allowance mess-up has been sorted out (I hope), all I have to do now is wait for payday in my bank account:). My medical follow up is tomorrow, too. "Turn your head and cough." 0.O

Okay, so I managed to miss a deadline... And I haven't even gotten serious yet! Well, things are going to get worse before they get better, if my newly returned brother has anything to do with it. He's just come back from med-school in Australia, so I'm going to have a distraction, as if I didn't already have enough things on my mind! Oh well, time to get my act together then! Hopefully I'll be able to get #21 together later today... Making time for Japanese writing practice and the English Vocabulary Project, of course...

On other notes... I feel so violated... This week we had an "exercise" in class, and the lecturer went and made it into a "simulated exam". Eh!? Anyway, she then proceeded to go through all our files, God knows what for. Perhaps she wanted to know how we organised our notes (Geez!), maybe she just got bored of doodling for herself, and wanted to see what kinds of squiggles her students put into her notes. Sheesh. In effing UNIVERSITY!?

While I'm on the topic of university, enrollment for the next semester has begun, or at least the first stage of it has just ended. Now, is it just me, or do the registers key-peck? The guy looks at the register slip, stares at it, looks down at the keyboard, looks at the f*cking paper again, then picks out ONE key. Repeat ad infinitum. And this is some drop-out secretary who's supposed to make a living for the drop-outs who just happened to be more highly educated than he is. Then, the bloody mother-f*cker gets up to make a half-hour phone call. No wonder Brunei bans firearms, but that guy had better pray that I never find out where he lives. ESPECIALLY if it's still with his parents. Kudos to the lady registrars though, at least they seem to know what they're doing.

Anyway, back to comic related topics! I wanna watch Fish Tale. Oops, did it again, hehe. I meant Shark Tale, heheh. I also do that with The Invincibles, whoops, The INCREDIBLES and even by friend Iz... hehe Ira. Maybe I should just stuck to Lorezza, eh? Ask any of my buddies. Am I getting muddled?

Oh, yes I am. Strayed a little there, didn't I? Anyway, I think I've decided on a two-per-week schedule, the first update being on Monday, as regularly as possible, and the second anywhere from Wednesday to Friday. Since I DO have 18 strips (left!) in reserve, this still leaves me enough breathing room till about January. Yes, I'm too lazy to do the math. I plan to get the reserve down to about 5 strips, so that if my style changes or evolves, you'll be able to see the change sooner, and your comments would be that much more up to date. So, maybe I can slack a bit, but I don't plan on slowing down too much! There are waaay too many ideas to waste by slacking.

Hmm... If anyone of you out there has any comments, feel free to give them, but if you have any ideas, please don't submit them just yet, 'cause I've restricted myself to a few base rules, which I'll lay down in the next post. However, I think I've ranted quite enough now, so please enjoy #2 for now!

Yay! Here's the first Animenagerie comic! Finally officially released! This is the strip that started it all, and this strip was inspired by the strangest of events... A neighbors chicken taking a stroll across my driveway. An outlet for creative practice! Heheh, God knows I need it, as you can see, but rest assured, the quality gets better later on.

Also, for some strange reason, the Blogger resizes the pictures, so the strip gets shrunk... This is worrying for me, since wrongly resized strips can look bad, and some of them are quite big... Oh well, as long as it gets up, eh? But it would be nice if someone could tell me how to not have the pictures resized by Hello!...
